Islamic Clothing
An important aspect of
religion that must be observed is the Islamic code of dress for both men and
women. The appearance is a sign
of what one has in the heat. Therefore the unique Islamic code of dress one of
many things that differentiate muslims and non muslim’s.
From almost the infinite bounties of Allah clothes are also a great bounty. Allah mentioned this fact in the Holy Quran. The Almighty say's.
‘O
Children of Adam, we have sent down upon you a dress which may conceal your
shameful parts and sent down feathers and the dress of piety. This is the best
of all.
(Al-A’arf,
verse-26)
Brief History of Clothing
First the
dress ever worn by a human on earth was leaves. As can be seen in the words of
the glorious Quran :
‘And when they tested
the forbidden tree their private pants become exposed and they began to cover
themselves with leaves (Al-A’araf, verse-22).
Allah is mentioning in
this Quran verse about the story of Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Hawa (A).
As the time change the
style of clothing also changed.
Sunnah Clothing
Islam has got no
fixed standards of dress as dress is regulated by necessities according to
geographical conditions of countries. In cold country warm cloth are necessary
for the protection of their body.
Similarly in
hot countries their clothes are mostly norm. This does not mean that we
take to wearing clothes so thin.
Our main object of wearing
clothes is covering our private parts and protection of the body from hot and
cold condition.
For a man this private
part is what consist between the neval and knee. It is the entire body for
a female except palms.
The most important
points of the hadith of Rasullah (SM) regarding dressing are:-
01. The clothes should
conceal the body entirely.
02. They should not be
similar to the non Muslims.
